Back Pain Relief
Once an injury to the spine has occurred, regular, often persistent back pain can follow; some medications can provide back pain relief in the short term, although none currently exist that remove pain completely. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain.
Any type of medication should only be used with the supervision of a doctor but especially when it is taken on a regular basis. Back pain is often caused by muscle strains, repeated strenuous exercises and poor sitting posture.
It can also be caused if you are lifting heavy loads and usually characterized by a sharp pain to your lower back. Many people are now turning to other methods of gaining back pain relief which do not include the use of drugs. Tense muscles in the back can be eased just by gentle stretching; this provides relief and is simple to carry out.
Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet. It is often successful at treating people with long term conditions. Often to compensate for our pain, the back muscles over compensate. Reflexology can help provide relief by improving the circulation which in turn relaxes these hard worked muscles.
Acupuncture on the other hand has been used in China since before the birth of Christ and has had considerable success in helping sufferers. It is providing back pain relief even though this is something that has only recently being used in the Western world. Acupuncture works by releasing the ‘chi’ or energy flow that every living thing has. It can become clogged up when sickness is present; using thin needles placed into the body at specific points can free this energy. Many sufferers swear by the use of acupuncture and results from many tests often back this claim. This treatment has indicating the patient does receive pain relief by using this method.
Tai Chi is also another ancient Chinese discipline which is basically a type of exercise similar to yoga except it is slower. This method uses breathing control as the main source of relief with some stretching involved. It is so easy to learn by the young and old alike.
A good preventative form of back pain relief is to actually exercise more regularly. This not only conditions the back but is an excellent preventative measure.
